Pioneer Science and Faperj — Celebrating the partnership with the funding agency

On May 14, Pioneer Science welcomed representatives of the Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Faperj) to celebrate a partnership. Over the next five years, both institutions will jointly invest up to R$ 30 million in research projects in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The celebration took place at IDOR’s headquarters in Botafogo, Rio de Janeiro, and was attended by Jorge Moll and Sérgio Ferreira — founder and scientific director of Pioneer Science, respectively —, Fernanda Tovar-Moll, president of IDOR, and Jerson Lima, president of Faperj.

Through public calls, the agreement will fund frontier science research at the interfaces between the exact, biological, and health sciences — Pioneer Science’s focus. Examples include the development of quantum technologies and the search for innovative treatments in medicine. The annual investment is expected to reach R$ 6 million, with the amount disbursed by each agency announced with every new call.
