About the research:

The project investigates non-ordinary experiences (NOEs), relatively common phenomena whose interpretation and consequences vary according to cultural context and individual psychological profiles. Building on the group’s validation of a descriptive, non-pathologizing measure, we seek to identify psychological patterns associated with the occurrence of NOEs in Brazil and to replicate these models cross-culturally. Using a complex database and multiple psychological instruments, the above goals will also be achieved by developing and validating advanced analytical strategies. We expect to contribute to refining the boundaries between variations in human experience and psychopathology.
