Conducts research in quantum optics, foundations of quantum mechanics, and open quantum systems, in collaboration with groups at UFMG and in Australia, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Singapore. He leads the quantum optics and quantum information group at UFRJ. In addition to research and international collaborations, he is directly involved in organizing several national and international events on research, study, and science communication, among which the series of graduate schools stands out.
