About the research:

The focus of our research is to develop models using human cells — mainly those derived from induced pluripotent stem cells — that are relevant to the study of the physiology and diseases that affect the nervous system. In particular, in these neural functions and pathologies, we seek to understand the role of cannabinoid signaling and other neuroactive molecules. Among the models we have already developed are human sensory neurons that respond to stimuli capable of causing pain. More recently, we have been applying these methods to investigate certain viruses and nervous tissue, as well as developing a model of opioid tolerance.
