Sobre

Researcher in Movement Neuroscience and Principal Scientist at Pioneer Science/IDOR. He holds a Dual PhD in Human Movement Sciences from the University of Groningen (Netherlands) and UNESP, with a background in Physical Education. He works at the interface between neuroplasticity, motor control, gait biomechanics, and neuromodulation in healthy populations and those with neurological diseases, such as Parkinson’s, stroke, and multiple sclerosis. He has extensive international experience, with postdoctoral training at the Weizmann Institute of Science and Sheba Medical Center (Israel). He is the author of more than 80 scientific articles in high-impact journals and coordinates clinical and translational projects in neurorehabilitation.

About the research:

The project “Optimizing Neurorehabilitation via Disruptive Interventions for Neurological Diseases” proposes innovative strategies to enhance neuroplasticity and improve gait in people with neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s, stroke, and multiple sclerosis. The proposal integrates two powerful tools: high-intensity aerobic exercise and non-invasive neuromodulation through paired associative transcranial magnetic stimulation (paTMS), evaluating their acute and chronic effects on neural, neuromuscular, biomechanical, and metabolic gait markers. Using integrative multimodal approaches — including neuroimaging, EEG, EMG, gait analysis, and machine learning — the project seeks to identify functional biomarkers and develop strategies.
