About the research:

Non-ordinary experiences (NOEs), such as hearing voices, having dissociative experiences, or feelings of profound insight, are relatively common in the general population, but sometimes associated with reduced quality of life and mental health. Medical interpretations of such experiences make use of psychiatric labels, while spiritual interpretations may offer a path to empowerment and social inclusion. The way individuals evaluate these experiences can have a long-term impact on their lives. A better understanding of the diversity of NOEs and their evaluations, together with the psychological and physiological states involved, can contribute to more appropriate interventions and frameworks.
